"welcome aboard" or something similar, you get a backlink to your site with your signature (and that too without much effort). The sad part, though is that most pages are not indexed by google and so the links are not indexed at the moment. Maybe some day, it will change and real weightage be received for the links when google starts indexing. till then, its just for fun and a camaraderie that pushes me to say hi to the newbies and also post comments/start new threads at this forum.
