Gordon Brown hasn't put Peter Mandelson in charge of fighting corruption. He's the new Business Secretary but the previous one John Hutton also held the position of anti-corruption minister with responsibility for battling bribery, money-laundering and international extortion. The civil servants who will work in this sphere will still be working at Mandelsons business, enterprise and regulatory reform offices BUT their boss will be Justice Secretary - Jack Straw!
Why has Brown brought Mandelson back if he cannot trust him with the anti-corruption portfolio? Surely the former European Commissioner is qualified for the job?
